The newbie class introduces our students to the wonderful game of chess. This class focuses on building a solid foundation for chess, by teaching students the rules of the game (such as board set-up, piece moves and notation) and the objective of chess i.e., to checkmate the opponent’s king. They are also introduced to some foundational checkmates, and mating patterns.
